Minuteman trail, concord, sleepy hollow cemetary

The NFS maintains a visitors center where they show a video that describes the events of April 1775. The "minuteman trail" extends, I believe, about 15 miles or so.

After, we went to the North Bridge in Concord where the "shot heard 'round the world" and the first British casualties happened.

Sleepy Hollow Cemetary is also in Concord.

05/24/2008, New England Aquarium, Boston Commons park, the subway.

Today we got lost trying to find our way from the Boston Commons area to the aquarium. Eventually we made it to the zoo that was the aquarium (tons of people). Afterwards, we took the subway back to the park even though it was only about a mile walk. Braeden was amped to take the subway after we told him all about it. The subway in Boston is different from New York, but just about as dumpy. Boston Commons is a very cool park with a wading pool called the "frog pond" where the kids can go play in the summer. I believe they turn it into an ice skating rink the the winter. Carissa's favorite part of the park was the squirrels that begged for food.

05/28/2008, Trip to Walden Pond

Carissa and the kids went to Walden Pond today.

Walden Pond Wiki entry

Walden Pond is the home of Henry David Thoreau. Braeden, Emery, and I enjoyed the beautiful historic scenery. Braeden and Emery loved to splash in the water and dig in the sand with their shovels. Both became more and more daring with the water and got their clothes soaked. We are excited to return and hike around the lake. This time I will be more prepared with a change of clothes and swim wear. Braeden was the most excited when we heard a loud noise in the distance, I thought it was a plane. We were astonished when in the distance, behind the trees we saw a communter train. Braeden hopes to ride on that train soon.
